Akwaihedi Community Unveils 2019 Queens

Akwaihedi, a great community in the Nnewi South Local Government Area of Anambra State has unveiled and presented to the public the her new queens for the 2019, being the winners in the Miss Akwaihedi 2019 Beauty Pageantry.

This was made known in a result recently announced by the organizers of the contest, which is one of the highly revered pageantry contests in the entire South-eastern Nigeria.

In an interview with newsmen after announcing the result, the chief organizer of the contest, Engr. Chidi Okoli, explained that the inter-village contest which was conceived in 2016 was aimed at bringing together, people of the community, especially the youths and friends for a primary purpose of enhancing all-round development of the community, promoting the Igbo cultural values and heritage as well as grooming social networking among the people.

He registered his unreserved appreciation to everyone who participated or assisted in one way or the other to make the event a success, particularly the eleven  contestants drawn from different villages of the community, the sponsors, the judges chaired by Dr. Mrs. Hope Wobikeze; and also eulogized the fans, the voters, the organising team led by Mrs. Joy Odunwa Onyejekwe and the entire Akwaihedi community, for their support.
     
Engr. Okoli further stated that the the winners, whose tenure will start on 1st January 2019 will be formally received, honoured and celebrated by the entire community during the Akwaihedi Aladinmma Cultural Festival 2019 which will hold in August at the royal palace of H.R.H. Igwe Sir Col. J.O.C. Onebunne, as it has been an annual trend.

 
Accepting the result and her queeny diadem as the Miss Akwaihedi 2019, the overall winner in the contest, Miss Priscilla Umeakuekwe, who is also a final year student of Benue State University, expressed her consummate joy on the outcome of the contest, which she said had taught her that persistence, indeed, is the key to success.
     
In their separate speeches, the first runner up in the contest who also emerged as the Face of Culture 2019, miss Precious Umeh, and the second runner up who also emerged as the Face of Tourism 2019, Miss Chioma Obidozie described the contest as apt, given its gargantuan direct and indirect benefits in the society, both now and in future.
     
Highlighting what they intend to achieve in 2019 with their different crowns and offices, these queens thanked the Almighty, who alone they confessed gives victory; and also belauded the organizers of the contest, the sponsors, their fans, fellow contestants the people of Akwaihedi and every other person who contributed in one way or the other to the success of the contest.
