Man granted N200,000 bail for allegedly stealing Television worth N95,000

A 28-year-old man, Stanley Okafor, on Friday appeared in a Badagry Chief Magistrates’ Court, Lagos, for alleged theft of television set worth N95,000.

Okafor, who resides at 24, Wilfred St., Ajara Agamethon in Badagry, is facing a charge of stealing.

The prosecutor, Inspector Akpam Ikem, told the court that the accused committed the offence on July 13 at a Shopping Complex in Aradagun area of Badagry.

Ikem said the complainant, Mr Jeff Nwadike, had asked the accused to deliver the television set to a customer but he instead, diverted it to his personal use.

The offence contravened Section 285 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2011 which stipulates three-year jail term for offenders.

The accused, however, pleaded not guilty to the charge.

The Magistrate, Mr Jimoh Adefioye, granted the accused bail in the sum of N200, 000 with a surety in like sum and adjourned the case until August 31st for mention.
