Olisa Metu's Trial: Judicial Terrorism On Display, By Charles Ogbu.

It is public knowledge that Chief Olisa Metuh, the former Publicity Secretary of the PDP, is one of those facing corruption charges in connection with the alleged embezzlement of arms fund by the former NSA, Col. Sambo Dasuki (rtd).

Today, the trial Judge, a certain Okon Abang, forced Olisa Metuh to appear before him  ON A HOSPITAL STRETCHER against numberless medical reports from numberless hospital to the effect that the ex PDP image maker is gravely ill and on admission in the ICU of  Nnamdi Azikiwe teaching hospital, Nnewi. Okon had insisted Metuh must appear in court or he would revoke his bail

And so, Metuh  was brought before the Judge today on a hospital stretchers straight from the Intensive Care Unit of Abuja Hospital.

It is a common knowledge that even when suspected terrorists are injured in the course of arrest, they are first gifted with adequate treatment before being made to face trial because the purpose of trial is not to kill the suspect but to dispense justice.

How can justice be dispensed if the accused is not allowed to stay alive to answer to his charges????

Where in the world is a suspect forced to appear in court in this condition?

Why has Okon Abang elected to hide under judicial discretion to see Olisa Metuh dead rather than allow him stand trial like every normal suspect?

Justice Okon Abang, had on January 25, 2018 dismissed a duly filed medical report from the Nnamdi Azikiwe Teaching Hospital, Nnewi where Chief Olisa Metuh was on admission for a life threatening spinal chord ailment, which has continued to deteriorate on account of the refusal of the same judge to allow him travel to a London hospital for a scheduled delicate surgery to save his life. This same Judge went ahead to deride the hospital, describing the report as a piece of trash fit for the dustbin, because, according to him, doctors used medical terms/jargons unknown to the court.

Even attempt by Metuh's lawyer to surrender his license as a guarantee that his client would return to complete his trial was rejected by this Judge.

 Abang would thereafter order that Metuh be lifted from the Intensive care unit of the hospital; brought before him on Monday 5th of February to continue his trial or have his bail revoked and be committed to prison, despite his obvious ill health.

This is the same Judge that had twice dismissed Metuh passionate plea to allow him travel for the surgery in a London hospital despite valid medical reports, including an MRI scan result and referral by the National Hospital.

Meanwhile,

This Unjust Justice Okon Abang, had on July 27, 2017, granted former Adamawa state governor, Murtala Nyako currently facing trial for alleged N29 billion fraud leave to travel abroad for treatment. On the same July 27, 2017,  Abang granted Zulkifikk Abba also standing trial alongside Nyako leave to travel abroad to visit family members.

Compare this two prayers granted by the same Abang to Nyako and Zulkifikk with this his demonic action of forcing Metuh to court on a hospital stretchers.

It is beyond every shadow of doubts that this Judge only plan to see Olisah Metuh dead.

It is indeed a sad day when a Judge allows himself to be used to perpetrate judicial terrorism on an innocent man.
