Group Kicks Against The Outcome Of APGA's Primary Election In Anambra

A group, Justice and Good Governance Forum, JGGF, has kicked against the outcome of All Progressive Grand Alliance, APGA, primary in Anambra which produced Governor Willie Obiano as the party’s sole candidate.

Addressing newsmen in Lagos, leader of the group, Mr. Abumchukwu Okoye, described the primary as "cash and carry."

He accused the party leaders of handing over the ticket to Governor Willie Obiano without subjecting him to the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, stipulated criteria for the emergence of a flag bearer of a political party in an election.

Okoye stated that one of the aspirants, Chief Hygers Igwebuike purchased his nomination form and met all the requirements and participated in the parallel primary that was supervised by INEC and won.

He called on the electorate to shun stooges and vote APGA in the November 18 governorship election, stressing that Igwebuike is the authentic candidate of APGA.

He expressed regret over the way candidates emerged in the major political parties which he said has opened gate for the return of the godfathers in Anambra politics.

He, therefore, urged the people of the state to reject candidates sponsored by godfathers as the state allocation will end up in the pockets of few individuals.

Okoye who is also a constitutional lawyer, said the action of the party leaders in Anambra is contrary to the objectives of the founder of APGA, the late Chief Dim Chukwuemeka Odimegwu Ojukwu and advised Anambrians to hold on to the vision of Ojukwu for forming the party considered to have the interest of Igbo urging them to resist any attempt to go back to Egypt.
