The All Progressives Grand Alliance, APGA under the leadership of Chief Martins Agbaso has fixed August 14 for its congress to produce the party’s governorship candidate.
The announcement inevitably puts the incumbent governor of the state, Chief Willie Obiano in a bind as he has up to August 9 to decide if to work with the Agbaso led leadership that his supporters have been working to delegitimize.
The decision to schedule the congress was despite attempts by elements in the party to stop the party from holding the congress through a court order issued by two Anambra High Courts at the weekend.

The orders were in spite of the judgment of the Court of Appeal sitting in Enugu which imposed validity on the Agbaso led National Working Committee, NWC.
A statement issued by the party’s National Publicity Secretary said the collection of expression of interest forms commenced yesterday and would end on Wednesday, August 9. Every matter dealing with the governorship primaries has to be concluded by August 16.
