Ohaneze and other mushroom associations in Anambra state issuing public statement in condemnation of Nnamdi kanu election boycott order should go and get some tutorial on crises management. They got it all wrong with the position they took against kanu.
What they ought to have done was to invite Nnamdi kanu and Ipob/Massob and iron things out with them instead of going public to issue incendiary statements.
Presently, Ipob/Massob and kanu commands the highest follower ship in Igbo land. And the followers are fanatical with their mind narrowed to a cause. They don't listen to any other source except kanu their leader. If on election day, they insist they are not coming out to vote, you can not go to their houses to drag them out. And if Nnamdi kanu insist today that non of his member should vote in the election and they abide by it, there is nothing anybody can do to convince them otherwise. Highest the Igbo elite can do would be to connive with the federal government to rearrest him. And this will enrage his followers and may ground activities in Igbo land further making the situation more intractable.
Ohaneze should invite kanu and Ipob/Massob and appeal to them, not threats. There is nothing their threat can do. Instead it'll worsen things. They should also warn the likes of Okorocha to stop aggravating the issue by issuing provocative statements against kanu and Ipob/Massob. Okorocha is no match to Ipob/Massob and Nnamdi kanu presently in Igbo land in terms of popularity, coupled with the fact that they don't view him as Igbo man. If you rearrest kanu, how many of his Ipob/Massob members can you arrest to quell his struggle?
Ohaneze should play the role of an elder in the house and stop aggravating matters.
