Osimhen Makes 2nd Bundesliga Appearance As Wolfsburg Face Relegation Playoff, Balogun Injured

Super Eagles youngster Victor Osimhen made his second appearance for Wolfsburg but could not prevent them from losing 2-1 away to Hamburg in the final day of the regular Bundesliga season.

The defeat means Wolfsburg finish in 16th on 37 points in the 18-team league and will feature in the relegation play-off.

Osimhen, 18, was brought on for Sebastian Jung in the 76th minute.

Robin Knoche gave Wolfsburg the lead in the 23rd minute.

In the 32nd minute Filip Kostic equalised for Hamburg before substitute Gian-Luca Waldschmidt scored the winning goal on 88 minutes to give the home team the win.

In another Bundesliga game played on the final day of the season, Super Eagles defender Leon Balogun was in action for Mainz but went off early as his team lost 2-0 away to Cologne.

Despite the loss, Mainz maintained their Bundesliga status after finishing in the 15th position on 37 points.

Jonas Hector and Yuya Osako were the scorers for Cologne in the 43rd and 87th minutes respectively.

Balogun, who started from the match, had to go off for Alexander Hack in the 18th minute in what is a suspected injury.

He is now a doubt for the Super Eagles friendly games against Corsica and Togo in a few days' time.
