NPFL Update: Away Wins, Red Cards Galore As 10-Man IfeanyiUbah Thrash 3SC In Ibadan

Plateau United failed to extend their lead in the table after being held to a 1-1 draw away to Katsina United on matchday 20 in the Nigeria Professional Football League on Sunday.

Katsina United took an early lead in the fourth minute through Chinedu Udechukwu.

But Plateau United equalised in the 59th minute thanks to Daniel Itodo.

Plateau maintain their leadership in the league table as they are now on 36 points.

At the Agege Stadium MFM could not take advantage of Plateau’s draw as they were held to a 0-0 draw by 10-man Akwa United.

MFM had a golden chance to take the lead on 32 minutes but NPFL top scorer Stephen Odey missed from the penalty spot after Kodjovi Dadzie handled the ball inside the box.

And in the 87th minute Akwa United were reduced to 10 men after Aremu Azeez was sent off for a second bookable offence.

MFM remain second on 34 points, two points off leaders Plateau United.

In Ibadan, Shooting Stars suffered a heavy home defeat after they were spanked 3-0 by 10-men FC IfeanyiUbah.

Godwin Obaje opened the scoring for FC IfeanyiUbah in the second minute before Pascal Seka doubled the visitors’ lead on 14 minutes.

Shooting Stars had the chance to reduce the deficit but Adebayo Abayomi’s 27th minute penalty was saved by Ikechukwu Ezenwa.

In the 72nd minute, IfeanyiUbah were reduced to 10 men following Bright Onyedikachi’s sending off.

But it was IfeanyiUbah who had the final say as King Osanga wrapped up the scoring on 87 minutes.

In Sagamu, Enyimba secured an away with a 1-0 result at Remo Stars in Sagamu.

The only goal of the game was scored by Ugochukwu Leonard on 38 minutes.

A minute before Enyimba scored, their coach Gbenga Ogunbote was sent off.

At the Nnamdi Azikiwe Stadium, champions Rangers grabbed a late goal to beat 10-man Gombe United 2-1.

Adamu Mohammed gave Gombe the lead when he got on the scoresheet in the 12th minute.

Godwin Aguda made it 1-1 with four minutes left in the first half.

Gombe lost Austin Oladapo who was sent off on 69 minutes for a foul.

And in the 94th minute, Ebuka Okeke scored the winner to give Rangers the win.

In other results, Wikki Tourist spanked visiting Abia Warriors 3-0, ABS pipped El Kanemi 2-1, while Sunshine Stars lost 1-0 at home to Lobi Stars.

And at the Sani Abacha Stadium, Kano Pillars beat Niger Tornadoes 1-0.

Pillars’ hero was Junior Lokosa who scored in the 25th minute.
