Champions Chelsea handed Sunderland a 5-1 bashing at Stamford Bridge on Sunday to set the record of the most wins in a Premier League season ever with 30 victories.
Javi Manqquillo scored in the third minute of their clash with Chelsea but the Blues soon equalised through Brazilian midfielder Willian after five minutes. Pedro and Michy Batshuayi (brace) were on target for the Blues.
Liverpool and Manchester City claimed the two automatic Champions League places on offer on the last day of the 2016/2017 Premier League seaason as they defeated Middlesbrough and Watford respectively at the expense of Arsenal despite the Gunners’ 3-1 win over Everton.
Arsenal needed both City and Liverpool to drop points, but the two sides secured comfortable wins to claim third and fourth spots respectively.
Super Eagles midfielder Alex Iwobi came off the bench in the 68th minute in place of Alexis Sanchez in Arsenal’s 3-1 win against Everton at the Emirates on Sunday.
Manchester United may have missed out from a top four place and are firmly focused on the Europa league final against Ajax for a chance to earn an European place but Jose Mourinho’s team did not let that weigh them down as they defeated Crystal Palace 2-0 at Old Trafford.
Youngster Joshua Harrop and Paul Pogba were the scorers for United.
