Pastor Arraigned For Allegedly Cutting Off Wife’s Breast With Kitchen Knife

A 61-year-old pastor, Adejare Adebayo, has been remanded in the Agodi Prison in Ibadan, Oyo State, by a magistrate’s court for allegedly cutting off the left breast of his wife with a kitchen knife on Christmas Eve.
The court heard that the wife, Mrs. Risikayat Adegbule, 43, died a few days later as a result of the injury suffered during the attack, which occurred at Onikankan village, on the outskirt of Ibadan.

The accused, who is the pastor in charge of Glory Triumphant Chapel, Moniya, Ibadan, appeared before Chief Magistrate F. Richard on Monday and pleaded not guilty to the one count preferred against him.
The prosecutor, Mr. Sunday Ogunremi, alleged that the crime was committed in the midnight.
The charge read, “That you, Pastor Adejare Adebayo, on December 24, 2016, at 12am, in Onikankan village, Ibadan, did unlawfully cause the death of Rukayat Adegbule, aged 43, by cutting her breast, thereby committing an offence contrary to Section 316 and punishable under Section 319 of the Criminal Code, Cap IX, Vol. 11, Law of Oyo State, Nigeria.”
After ordering the pastor’s remand in prison custody, the chief magistrate adjourned the case till February 14, 2017.
