Former Senate President Dr. Chuba Okadigbo had this to say in 2003 when Buhari chose him as his running mate in the presidential elections
"My acceptance to be General Muhammadu Buhari's running mate in the presidential election is the shortest way the Igbo can produce a Nigerian president. Buhari is a detribalized Nigerian and would never discriminate against any region. Remember this day, that I Chuba Okadigbo said this, Buhari will define politics in the years ahead and Ndi Igbo shall benefit immensely and achieve our goal through him. Nigeria is lucky to have such an upright man, quote me.".
Unfortunately, Dr Chuba Okadigbo died in 2011 and did not live to see Buhari and the APC rise to power however, the salient points to note from his life and philosophy points to the fact that he has seen the future and has also charted a course for the Igbo nation.
Now consider this. Buhari hates Ndigbo and wants to Islamize Nigeria yet
In 2003 Dr Chuba Okadigbo was Buhari's running mate for the presidential election,
In 2007, Dr Edwin Ume Ezeoke was Buhari's running mate for the presidential election
Buhari chose 2 Igbo leaders before he went for Pastor Tunde Bakare in 2011 and Prof Pastor Yemi Osinbajo in 2015.
There is no marginalization of any tribe in this country. If any exists, it is that of the political elites against the poor masses in their respective regions and states.
it not about marginalization, we live in a country where you don't know who's marginalizing who? SW claimed that they were being marginalized by GEJ regime, some parts of the North also complained bitterly. The point is Igbos had the choice to choose whomever we wanted and we allowed propaganda and elitist greed blind us. sentiments or not, Ndi Igbo was not thinking strategically while making these choices and that’s why we lost out all together.
While no responsible person should support of the marginalisation of any ethnic, religious or national group in Nigeria, Igbos, in particular, have a lot to learn from other Nigerians and must be ready to do away with Civil War mentality to really prosper in a united Nigeria. We must also learn to identify who our real enemies are
WHO IS THE REAL ENEMY OF IGBO’s
It is heart breaking that our people has forgone the optimal use of historical indices and common sense. Igbos do not appear to know their real “enemies”. Our greedy and corrupt leaders supported former president Jonathan, himself an Ijaw man from Bayelsa state even adding “Azikwe” to his name just to make him “our son”. Ebeletimi became Ebere and it was shoved down our throats. Jonathan himself did not disappoint, he rewarded the greed of the Igbo elites with empty hands.
The last time I checked, ijaws fought alongside the Federal army during the Civil War. People like Isaac Boro and immortal Ken Saro-Wiwa both from “minority areas” fought the Biafrans to a standstill during the war. Governor Nyesom Wike publicly declared that the South South are not Igbo’s neither are they Biafrans. The Average Ikwerre man in Rivers and Bayelsa states would fight you the moment you make an attempt to point out the common ancestry they share with the Igbos yet our leaders brought GEJ and forced him down our throats. What a shame. A race known for its superior intellect suddenly became so thoughtless thanks to greedy leadership and thoughtless followership.
Until we Igbos realize that we are the cause of our own problems, we will continue to lose out. Many of us still dream of a Biafra, where all Igbos will be united. Absolute bumkum - if I know ourselves, the Anambra Igbos will disagree with the Abia Igbos, who will in turn call the Enugu Igbos names and so on....
Up till date, An Abakaliki man remains stereotyped by the other Igbos as psychologically and mentally deprived. The Imo Man is often regarded as a lazy sloth that will never amount to anything while the Abia man sees the Anambra man as a ritualist who is willing to do anything for money.
Few days ago, A fight broke out at a soccer viewing center over an argument about the location of the Biafran capital, One party insisted that the capital is in Arochukwu while another hushed him down and insisted that the capital should be in Anambra state the home of Ojukwu. Words were exchanged and before I could say jack, Blows started flying left and right.. That is the Biafra of our dreams.
BUHARI-PHOBIA AND ITS ROOTS IN SPONSORED PROPAGANDA
In an Advertorial titled “APC is Dead on Arrival in the South East” sponsored by an unknown group in the eve of the launch of the party in Anambra sometimes in 2014, cites the “deportation” of 14 destitudes of Igbo Origin to Anambra and Imo States as a case for Igbos not to support the APC. I wish to say that I condemn this act by the Lagos State Government in its totality but also wish to state that other states including Kano, Ekiti Benue, Osun, Kebbi and Kwara states indigenes were also deported from Lagos State.
Another dubious man who helped entrench Buhariphobia is the People’s Democratic Party(PDP) campaign spokesman, Chief Femi Fani-Kayode. Needless to say that Fani-Kayode or FFK as he is sometimes called himself does not give a hoot about the igbos ”considering his earlier views on Ndigbo while he was in the APC. How he suddenly became a “beloved Igbo” is really a very strange phenomenon. He suddenly became a spokesman for Nnamdi Kanu and famously reminded us that he tasted the pudding on Bianca before the great Ikemba.
APGA and PDP politician who were desperate to win elections through crude propaganda made sure that this ideology was propagated in churches. Buhari and the APC was branded antichrist and anti-Christians whose ambitions were to islamize thesouth east and persecute Christians. Prayer points were raised and brethren fasted against his emergence. Jonathan was sent by God and only his emergence would save the church.
They brainwashed the gullible
To God be the Glory that in than 2015 presidential election, President Buhari won and the former president, Dr Goodluck Ebele Jonathan graciously conceded defeat and congratulated the winner.
Even if Buhari wants to marginalize the Igbos, the federal character principle won't let him. And he is not even doing that, and he won't do it because the president is one of the most detribalized Nigerians ever. I pity some of my naive and gullible igbo brothers and sisters who believe hookline and sinker whatever they are fed by Ohaneze Ndigbo, priests and local politicians.
Igbo youths should wise up, be more objective and stop being sentimental. Most political opinion makers in the igbo nation are only interested in their pockets.
Since assumption of office on 29th May, 2015, President Buhari has in measured steps began the construction of projects which our so called brother Jonathan could not do. Even the East- West road in the south south has been awarded and works commenced.
President Buhari is the President of all Nigerians and will continue to treat all citizens on the basis of fairness, equality and equity,
I hereby enjoin Ndigbo to ignore all propaganda designed to sow seeds of discord among us. The intention is to promote a separatist agenda against national unity, solidarity and progress. The intention is to empower and enrich a few using tribalism as a propaganda tool. The same people who are spreading this propaganda has been given 16 whole years of our lives and they did nothing to better our lives instead they enriched themselves at our detriment.
APC: THE NEW IGBO PARTY
APC has done more for the Igbo Nation in one year than PDP and APGA did in 16 years.
APC is the new Igbo party and remains the most viable machinery to take Ndigbo to the presidency
Yes, the uninformed among us were brainwashed into hating and attributing religious extremism to the APC .
But !!!!
Although we as a people did not vote for APC
Barely a year into Buhari’s APC government, The second Niger bridge is on the budget in 2016 and work has commenced. This is a bridge that GEJ swore to complete before 2015 or he will resign. He didn’t even go beyond the architectural drawing yet our leaders told us to vote for him again simply because he has directed Dasuki to their pockets.
Barely a year into Buhari’s APC government, The Enugu-Onitsha expressway has been budgeted for and works has commenced. This is a road that PDP abandoned for 16 years.
Barely a year into Buhari’s APC government, The Enugu-Port Harcourt road has been budgeted for and work has commenced. A road that PDP abandoned for 16 years.
Barely a year into Buhari’s APC government, Buhari has employed 30,000 jobs for the south east through the N-power programme. 6000 for both Anambra and Abia state, 5000 each for Enugu, Imo And Ebonyi states. APGA on the other hand has only created jobs for Aguleri youths by arming them with dangerous weapons and banding them into a killer unit called OCHA BRIGADE which specializes in maiming and brutalizing innocent igbos
Barely a year into Buhari’s APC government, The Anambra West-Kogi expressway has been budgeted for and works has commenced. A road that PDP abandoned for 16 years.
I actively supported the APC during the last election, not because of 'juicy' appointments, but due to the abject failure of PDP, especially under GEJ, I remember the heavy backlash I received back then but I was not perturbed because I knew something that many did not understand. The way GEJ was going, had he won that election, Nigeria would have become worse than Somalia by now.
Jonathan was driving Nigeria into the abyss and to address key national issues on security, corruption, power generation and associated infrastructure, the economy and job creation for the teeming unemployed Nigerians was a problem,
Even APGA which came up with the scam contraption called Igbo party failed because it could not function outside Anambra State. How could the Igbo Man be thinking of an Igbo presidency under APGA when we could not even win and control two states in the south east. This was what Peter Obi saw and left, the party collapsed immediately afterwards due to the dearth of probity, Cluelessness and lack of accountability in governance exhibited by his successor.
On several occasions, I spoke with some leaders of Ohaneze Ndigbo and other select think tank within the academia, on the need to have a balanced approach to the parties and candidates for the elections, On the need to ask ourselves what GEJ has done for the igbo nation in his six years in office, but these old, greedy and unrepentant thinkers continued in the idiotic 'he is our son' support for GEJ as long as Dasuki doles out millions to them privately and individually.
what has transpired has transpired and the Igbo nation has been duped. what needs to be done by my people is to do a reality check, be frank to ourselves, reposition, realign and gain as much as we can from this position of weakness purely created by ourselves.
We must rediscover ourselves and retrace our steps
APC is not Hausa Party. APC belongs to all of us.
This is the foundation for constructing a progressive and prosperous Igbo nation, which Dr Chuba Okadigbo of blessed memory predicted over a decade. A transparent foundation, devoid of corruption and greed.
That foundation is in the APC
