Miss Anambra "Cucumber Gate," Let's Chase Away The Wolves, By Chukwudi Nwokoye

Chidimma Okeke, Ex Miss Anambra
The number one issue trending in Nigeria social media is not that a bag of rice is approaching N30,000 or that the naira exchange to a dollar is within the striking distance of N500. The big controversy is that of the lesbian sex tape of Miss Anambra, Chidinma Okeke, that is all over the social media. Many people have commented on the issue with majority condemning her and calling her unprintable names. She truly deserves the consequences of her naivety.

But as the saying of our people goes: "we have to chase away the wolves before we blame the chicken for moonlighting." It is unfortunate that our people decided to do the opposite. They blamed the chicken while the wolves are still prancing around and taking their victory lap threatening to publish more damaging sex tapes.

Everyone knows that Chidinma is the chicken here. She is a victim! An un-named cabal or interest group is after her. Who are those people? Chidinma knows them. She rode on their back to stardom.

When I heard about the sex video of Miss Anambra, I immediately knew that it was a blackmail. She obviously stepped on wrong toes. She must have reneged on her own side of the evil bargain. She "bucked" as Americans would say. I believe that she kept giving as every victim of blackmail does until she decided to say "I can't do this anymore."

Then comes the hammer! Unconfirmed report had it that she has paid over a million naira to make the blackmailer go away but to no avail. Also, I heard that she gave up her crown and even the car she won, but that was not enough. Sex must have been part of the bargain. She called their bluff and just like every blackmail, they must have repeatedly threatened her. They wanted to keep collecting cash, sex etc from her. She did not help matters by denying that she was the one in the picture. It is stupid of her to come with such a lame defense of herself. She would have been better served maintaining a dignified silence and allowing the controversy to play out as she builds her case against her oppressors and come clean as she tells her own side of the story.

The people behind all these are evil people. They are cowards. I refuse to join the chorus in condemning Chidinma. We cannot over beat the fact that she was naive just as most young ladies are. She wanted fame and money. Beauty pageants in Nigeria and in most countries are riddled with sexual favors, bribery and all kinds of vices. It is like Sodom. You pay to play. Young men that want to win pay with a load of money and even gay relationship; while young ladies pay with sex and more. Let truth be told. It is disgusting but it is reality in that industry. Chidinma fell victim to their machinations. They have ruined her name and her career. What else remains?

Those behind this evil tape are disgusting people. They should be ashamed of themselves. They prey on the weak and vulnerable young women for their perverted egos. Thunder fire them!

What many people especially those from Anambra; that are solely blaming her, do not understand is that this scandal is no longer about her. Her shame came when she let herself into participating in disgusting lesbian sex act and to be recorded just for her to win a pageant. Her shame as a woman started there. The video looks so amateurish and seems like a poor auditioning in sex act. A cursory look at it shows that she knew that she was being taped. It was not a secret tape since the person holding the camera seemed to be directing the act. So it was not a secret tape. It was agreed upon. What she didn't know was the extent that this people would go to get their pound of flesh.

Since she was Miss Anambra and carries our flag, our own shame started with the release of the tape. Before she won the pageant, who knew her name? In fact, how many people in Nigeria knew her name before the sex scandal? Not many. She was an ordinary girl in the university known only by her friends, family and people in her own circle. Winning Miss Anambra by whatever means, puts her on a pedestal. Every Anambra person is shamed by the video. Anytime that the issue is discussed, Anambra takes the first shot. You get your own part of the shame as an Anambra person.

Chidinma is our daughter. She is our sister even if the whole world casts her away. She is still our own. She screwed up but the bigger issue is sex slavery by these 'take no prisoner' individuals. Those that are blackmailing her are doing immense damage to our state. The truth would surely come out. These wolves are heartless. I believe that they are from Anambra and that they pull strings at the Miss Anambra beauty pageant. Let someone prove me wrong. Anambra State Broadcasting Service, ABS, that organizes this programme; has a case to answer. Its silence in this controversy is not golden.

I call on the Anambra State government to immediately set up a commission of inquiry to get to the root of this mess. Failure to do so would mean that the Agu Awka has a dog in this fight. It's either the scandal would implicate those at the top level of the government or that the government is protecting some highly placed individuals.

The Miss Anambra sex scandal exposes the bigger menace in our society today. Our society is rotten, as in dead and stinking. If not for the video, many would continue to be in denial about what goes on behind the curtains. Many young women unwittingly live as sex slaves to these people just because they wanted to belong to a certain class. Hunger is in the land too. Aguu di. Obviously, in their desperate urge to be popular and enjoy the trappings of being popular, they fell into the hands of these perverts. It is a big lesson to young women and even young men. Homosexuality is prevalent in our society and most of the times, it is a cult. Young people think that this is school life fun until they find out very late, that they had mortgaged their life to these evil people. Trying to get out comes with a price as Chidinma found out.
