BEFORE WE LINE UP BEHIND TRUMP, BY Ugochukwu Nwachukwu

It has become very imperative to clarify my position regarding the candidacy of Donald Trump for the presidency of the United States.

It is true that Barack Obama and Hilary Clinton removed Goodluck Jonathan and installed Mohammadu Buhari in their bid to calm Boko Haram fighters. Understandably, Jonathanians are angry and believe that the best way to retaliate is to queue up behind Donald Trump. I myself have been doing some underground campaign against Hilary Clinton for the past one year. Without boasting, I have convinced not less than 60 White Americans not to vote Clinton but to vote Donald Trump.

Secondly, most Biafran agitators like myself erroneously believe that because Donald Trump supported Brexit, that he may support the breakaway of Biafra.

I want to make it clear to everyone that sometimes we must put away anger, pain, and urge for revenge but instead think clearly and seek more information before we line up behind someone who does not even know about us. The United States has a clear-cut policy: “Let the oil flow.” Because Donald Trump supported Brexit does not mean he will support Biafra. If and when he becomes the President of the United States, he will align himself with the United States policy of “let the oil flow.” If made known to him that the declaration of Biafra will in anyway hamper the flow of oil, he will support Buhari against the Biafrans.

A glimpse of Donald Trump’s mind can be seen from his speech. He is recorded as stating that he supports the reign of dictators in “unstable” countries. He claims that citizens of such countries cannot be trusted with democracy and hence the need for strong men to handle them and ensure the free flow of oil. Does such rhetoric from such a man make us to believe he would support Biafra?

Before we line up behind Donald Trump, let us ensure that he at least knows about us. Has any Biafran delegation gone to meet him? Have we sent his campaign any documentation regarding Biafra and gauge where his sympathies lie based on his response? If we cannot get to Donald Trump now that he is an ordinary candidate, how then do we expect to get to him after he is sworn in? A United States president does not form an opinion about any country. It is the duty of the ambassador to update him and feed him on country specific events. This is the reason why Tinubu and co were able to deceive Obama by giving him false information through the ambassador in Lagos.

We must use our tongue to count our teeth at this juncture. The Nigerian community in the USA is such a huge one and we cannot afford to drive them like a directionless herd to vote for a man who may not have their interest at heart. The pressure from those living in Nigeria on these Nigerian Americans is at this moment yielding increased support for Trump.

This message in no way means that I have made up my mind to support Hillary Clinton. What it means is that I do not at this point support anyone. I just want to let you guys know that in politics, you do not give support to anyone until they promise to protect your interest. Don’t work for someone whom you are not sure of his stance on your cause.

NB:
1. Trump is not racist (no case of hating any group has been presented or proved against him).
2. Trump is not building any wall. He is just a good marketer and gave the people what they want.
3. Trump will not stop any immigration (He uses the basic rules of business to attract voters). He will reveal his true nature after election.
4. Trump is not a Republican. He is just a good businessman.
