BREAKING: Olisa Metuh sentenced to 7 years in prison for laundering N400 million

The Federal High Court in Abuja has sentenced the former National Publicity Secretary of the PDP, Mr Olisa Metuh to 7 years in prison after he was found guilty of money laundering in the sum of N400 million.

The trial judge, Justice Okon Abang, found the PDP chieftain guilty on Tuesday while delivering judgement in the suit instituted against him by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).

The court also ordered Metuh to pay a total sum of N375million to the coffers of the Federal Government

Justice Abang equally directed that his firm, Destra Investment Ltd, should be wound up with all funds standing to its credit forfeited to the government.

The anti-graft agency charged Metuh, who is standing trial alongside his company, Destra investment, with seven counts bordering on criminal diversion of the money received from the office of the former National Security Adviser (NSA), Colonel Sambo Dasuki (rtd).

Delivering judgement in the case, Justice Abang convicted the former PDP spokesman on all the 7 count charges.

On counts one and two, Metuh bagged seven years each, on count three, five years; count four, seven years; counts five and six, three years each and he got seven years for count 7. Totalling 39 years.

The judge held that all the years are to run concurrently, meaning Metuh would spend seven years in prison.
