Senate President, Dr. Abubakar Bukola Saraki led the Principal Officers into the chambers; took the official prayers; and began the day’s proceedings at 10:51am.
Senator Gbenga Ashafa moved for the approval of votes and proceedings of Tuesday, 26th February 2019. Senator Rose Oko seconded.
POINT OF ORDER
Senate leader, Ahmad Lawan cited order 43 and made reference to the demise of Hon. Temitope Olatoye who died on the 9th of March, 2019.
“It is our culture in the Senate and National Assembly in general that when this kind of thing happens either in Senate or House of Representatives we observe a minute silence and adjourn plenary in honour of our late brother and friend. May his soul Rest In Peace.”- Senate Leader, Ahmad Lawan.
Minority Leader seconded.
Senate observed a minute silence in honor of the deceased Honorouble member.
“Our condolences goes to his family, the people and government of Oyo State. I hope we can address the issue of what happened to this colleague of ours and the circumstances in which he lost his life.”- Senate President, Dr. Abubakar Bukola Saraki.
ANNOUNCEMENT
Senate President, Dr. Abubakar Bukola Saraki announced that the #2019Budget debate will commence on Wednesday, March 13th, 2019.
Senate President, Dr. Abubakar Bukola Saraki announced that Senator Francis Alimikhena will take charge as Chairman of the Adhoc Committee on the New Minimum Wage from Senator Olusola Adeyeye.
ADJOURNMENT
Senate Leader moved that all items on the order paper be stood down to another legislative day. Minority Leader seconded.
