With 15,191,847 votes, President Muhammadu Buhari of the All Progressives Congress, APC has secured the highest votes in Saturday’s presidential election.
According to the results declared by Mahmood Yakubu, chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Atiku Abubakar polled 11,262,978 votes, winning in 17 States and FCT.
Buhari will continue his tenure as president for the next four years.
This result brings to an end the fierce contest for Nigeria’s highest office of President that culminated into last Saturday’s presidential election.
Buhari also satisfied the constitutional requirement of making 25 per cent in 34 states and the FCT.
He missed the cut in Enugu and Anambra.
According to the electoral commission, 29,364,209 votes were cast out of which 27,324,583 were valid while 1,289,607 votes were rejected.
