"Like Winston Churchil, Like Franklin Delano Roosevelt"
By Ikechukwu Al Barney Amaku
A time of decision remains a critical time to reflect and during such times when the trips are down, articulate and charismatic leaders emerge to make it better through personal sacrifices and injection of ideas.
Winston Churchill took over as British Prime Minister on 10th May 1940, following the resignation of Neville Chamberlain, who could no longer stand the pressure from all fronts. The World plunged into a theatre of war, especially in Europe and Great Britain was saddled with the responsibility to play the big brother by uniting other nations and defeat Hitler and his Nazism. Churchill was without fear, inspired the British stand against oppression and stood with them holding fort until World War 2 ended. He awakened his people and their fears vanished until the war ended in their favour. Churchill also had a responsibility of maintaining a sound wartime economy despite pressures from all angle and knowing that his reign was at the peak of the bloodiest war in world history.
Franklin Delano Roosevelt was 32nd President of the United States of America, his reign as Commander in Chief remains the most unenviable one ever in history of God's own country. FDR as he is fondly called, took over from Herbert Hoover who plunged America into her gravest economic crisis called "The Great Depression". FDR introduced programs that gave Americans a whole new breathe of fresh air, he called them the "New Deals", which increased jobs, cuts taxes and gave credits to Americans willing to invest in the economy through funding of banks on verge of folding. The new deals sustained America until she gradually revived from the economic meltdown and transformed to the Arsenal of Democracy prompting her to intervene in World War 2 and helped the allies achieve victory. Whenever challenges are made mention, a leader like FDR is one name that tops that list. He remains America's third most popular President according America.com online poll. Owing to how great he governed America, he was elected for a record four times in office not minding the political and constitutional implications.
Today Anambra South is in a situation were leaders with such antecedents must take the mantle of leadership to secure a healthier and vibrant society for generations to come. Roosevelt and Churchill are passionate leaders, like Dr. Patrick Ifeanyi Ubah with not only great oratory prowess but also practicable ideas that upon implementation would accelerate development. Anambra South needs a fearless Senator like Churchill and Roosevelt and Dr. Patrick Ifeanyi Ubah stands out from all the list of aspirants gunning for the most prestigious Senatorial Seat on the East of Niger. The New Deals and Churchill's wartime economic policies sustained and made America and Great Britain emerge stronger post World War 2, Dr. Patrick Ifeanyi Ubah is going to drive policies that will sustain the Igbo economy for years to come.
Dr. Ifeanyi Ubah Games Village is a model of tourism in Anambra State, week in week out visitors from all works of life troupe in to catch a glimpse or take photographs or see a game in that facility. This games village has a potential of providing 5000 direct jobs and twice this number in terms of indirect jobs. With this number of persons off the Labour market, it would ease the government of the day the pressure of job creation. Dr. Patrick Ifeanyi Ubah has the charisma to woo investors, the West Ham partnership is a module that is bare for all and sundry to see that upon granting him the opportunity to be our representative at the Red Chambers, our zone, state and geopolitical area will be a foreign investment hub.
The practicality of the personality Dr. Patrick Ifeanyi Ubah cannot be overemphasized, he has proven to live by what he preaches, his akulue Uno principles has seen him bring Authority 91.9fm Radio Ozubulu-Nnewi, build Petroleum Storage Facilities in East and Quality roads in his Umuanuka, Otolo Nnewi community. Dr. Ubah is a man with high test for quality projects, therefore qualitative representation will never elude Ndi Anambra South and Ndigbo in general.
He does the talk and he is never afraid to dare...
I call on the Apga Delegates of Anambra South to choose Qualitative Representation over Mediocrity, Practical Representation over Theory, Track Records over Potentiality.
