BREAKING: One dead as uncompleted building collapses in Ukpor-Anambra State [PHOTOS]

The body of the deceased
An early morning tragedy has struck Umuhu Ukpor town in Nnewi South LGA, Anambra State as part of a building collapsed in the area.

The incident which occurred early Tuesday morning claimed the life of one of the artisans working at the site.

According to an eye witness who spoke to cfrmagazine.com on the telephone, the deceased was working with his colleagues when the unfortunate incident happened.

“He (the deceased) has been working with his friends at the building since one week.

“They started the concrete work yesterday for the parapet. Early this morning, instead of allowing the concrete to dry very well, the deceased proceeded to remove the materials used for the job. Unfortunately it collapsed and hit him dead on the spot."
Another eye witness who gave his name as Elochukwu corroborated the report and attributed the collapse to negligence.

“I'm not trying to blame the dead but the deceased was warned by his co-workers not to loose the plank used for the concrete because it hasn't dried yet but he refused.

“The concrete was done yesterday and there was a heavy downpour last night. So there's no way it could've dried over night. This is just a case of a careless death”.

The corpse of the deceased who was later identified as Chibuzo from Enugu state has since been deposited in the morgue by the Police.

May his soul rest in peace!
