Police dismiss, arrest killer of NYSC member, Linda Nkechi Igwetu

The FCT police command has arrested, dismissed and arraigned the policeman who killed a female corps member, just a day to the completion of her service.

The deceased, Linda Igwetu, was allegedly shot in the early hours of Wednesday around Ceddi Plaza by a police officer and confirmed dead at the Garki Hospital.


Briefing journalist on Friday,  FCT Commissioner of police, Sadiq Bello, said all necessary disciplinary procedures had been concluded.

“He (the suspect) has been dismissed from the force and arraigned before a court of competent jurisdiction and he is currently on remand awaiting trail,” he said.


The policeman who allegedly shot Angela was identified as Benjamin Peters according to a petition written to the National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) by a law firm representing the sister of the deceased.
