UPDATED: 15 Senators decamp from APC to PDP as Saraki survives Police siege

About 15 senators have just decamped from APC to PDP.

The Senate president, Dr Bukola Saraki read the letter of their defection few minutes ago at the ongoing plenary.

They are: Senator Musa Rabiu Kwakwanso, Dino Melaye, Rafiu Ibrahim, Ubale Shittu, Barnabas Gemade, Bayero Nafada, Suleiman Hunkuyi, Monsurat Sumonu, Shaba Lafiagi among others. Many others are expected to defect soon.

Senate President Bukola Saraki is currently at the national assembly, hours after his convoy was intercepted by the police.

The police had blocked the convoy of the senate president from leaving the street where his residence is located at Maitama District, Abuja.

It was reported that the senate president had left his Maitama residence as early as 5am.

According to a live video from the National Assembly, Saraki is currently presiding over the plenary session
