Wife of Borno governorship aspirant who lost her pregnancy in detention and 19 others granted bail after 30 days in jail

Wife of Borno State 2019 PDP Gubernatorial Aspirant, Comrade Grema Terab, and 19 other family members have been granted bail after 30 days in detention with no charges.

Hajiya Saadatu Muhammad and others were arrested after a political meeting in Maiduguri on Sunday 15th April, 2018. During the time in detention, Hajiya Muhammad, who was heavily pregnant, subsequently suffered a miscarriage due to alleged maltreatment and careless handling by men of the force.


Comrade Terab took to Facebook to disclose news of the release.

"We thank you all for your support and prayers at these trying times. We remain grateful for your show of courage in the face of injustice and the tyranny of the oppressors.

"Today Monday 14th May 2018, My wife Sa'adatu, My Comrade Friend & brother Yusuf Galtimari, My Comrade Brother Abubakar Terab and 18 other family members have been granted bail by Justice Abdullahi Sanya of the state High Court after about 30days of detention for a crime they know nothing about.

"Indeed the path to Justice might be slow and thorny but surely & certainly, with patience & perseverance, the greatest of heights are within reach. Our profound gratitude again for everyone who has in one way or the other contributed to this cause, indeed it has reaffirmed my faith in humanity. I ask the Almighty to bless us all. Amin."
