A former member of Anambra State House of Assembly, Hon. Ikenna Mbazulike-Amechi has called on people of South East to support only those aspirants who are ready to push for the implementation of the resolutions reached at the South East Summit on Restructuring.
He made this call at the end of the summit organized by OHANAZE NDIGBO, to discuss the Igbo agenda, as it concerns the ongoing agitation for restructuring of the Nigeria federation.
The former lawmaker who is also a Stalwart of the ruling All Progressives Grand Alliance APGA in Anambra State aligned himself with the resolutions reached at the summit and enjoined people of South East to insist on sending to the National Assembly only those aspirants who can participate in the clause-by-clause deliberation of the resolutions when the issue of restructuring would be debated on the floor of National Assembly.
He stated that some of the items in the resolution require constitutional amendment, while others demand legislative enactment with the attendant lobbying for the support of other legislators from other zones before they can be actualized.
According to Hon. Mbazulike-Amechi, "what the Igbo nation needs now is that capable and knowledgeable people are sent to the National Assembly, where the nitty-gritty of this declaration will be debated and adopted."
The Lagos-based lawyer, who hopes to represent the people of Anambra South zone at the Senate Chamber come 2019, further promised to work relentlessly for the actualization of these Igbo agenda, as contained in the "Ekwueme Square Declaration if given the mandate.
