As Nigeria rolls out drums to mark the 2018 National Children’s Day, today (May 27, 2018), a unique day traditionally set aside to celebrate the importance of children across the country, the Anambra South Senatorial hopeful, Dr. Patrick Ifeanyi Ubah, has felicitated with the Nigerian children, affirming that, "when we look at today's children, we see tomorrow's leaders."
Dr. Ubah, who is contesting for the 2019 Senatorial elections to represent the good people of Anambra South on the platform of the All Progressives Grand Alliance, APGA, in a statement personally signed by him on Sunday, pointed that, investing resources and creating opportunities to help the Nigerian children develop their full potentials is fundamental to protecting their rights.
The statement read, "The Children's Day is celebrated with numerous activities to honour the little and beautiful ones, as well as highlight the dignity of children and their need for love, care, respect and to instil in them a sense of patriotism and national pride.
"Every parent/guardian sees endless possibilities and great hope in the eyes of their children. In today’s society, children are considered as the building blocks of the nation. Hence, we cannot ignore their involvement and contribution in the life of parents, guardians and other related people.
"When we look at today's children, we see tomorrow's leaders. While our children are undoubtedly the bright future of the Nation when given a solid foundation on which a better society can be built, certain basic deprivations experienced by them at this stage can have irreversible effects on their potentials and in turn, the Nation’s fortune.
"Ultimately, the direction and possibility of a Nation’s growth can be technically measured by the importance that the Nation places on the welfare of its children. For any society to thrive, there has to be a connection between its present and the future. Our children serve as the bridge or pathway through which this is accomplished.
"Beyond the speeches and parades that characterise the Children’s day, the celebration of the day reminds us that investing our resources and creating opportunities to help our children develop their full potentials is fundamental to protecting their rights.
"Our children are valuable assets; the future of the country as well as the hope of tomorrow. It is therefore not just essential but mandatory to always renew our staunch commitment towards our children’s welfare including proper education, healthcare and equal rights."
The Chairman, Capital Oil & Gas, reiterated that, "We must also endeavour to encourage our kids to expand their thinking beyond the box of established theoretical methodologies and explore their talents, innovative approaches and ideas to tackle the contemporary challenges we face in the world today https://m.facebook.com/story.php?story_fbid=798841546980758&id=152473798284206.
"Conclusively, the best legacy we can leave for our children is to create a society where they can grow up to optimally achieve their full potentials. A society where human rights are respected; democracy flourishes and poverty reduced to its barest minimum seeing that this particular societal ill is a barrier to human progress and development. To invest in a child today is to invest in our common future as the world our children will inherit tomorrow is determined by the foundation we lay today."
"To our beautiful children, Congratulations to you all on yet another Children's day celebration. It is my earnest prayers that you all become successful and bring honour to your respective families, our state and Nation at large. Happy Children’s Day to all our Nigerian Children! I celebrate you today," he felicitated.
