Accord women their rightful position – Anambra Speaker tells legislative institutions

As the world marks the International Women' Day, the Speaker of Anambra State House of Assembly has called on various legislative institutions in the country to accord women their rightful position with maximum security through legislation.

In her goodwill message to women to mark the day, Rt. Hon. Maduagwu extolled the contributions of some notable women to the growth and development of the country and urged upcoming ones to comport themselves in other to become virtuous women.

The speaker who used the occassion to call for total elimination of all forms of discrimination against women as well as harmful practices also enjoined women to form cooperatives to assist themselves.

She commended the wife of the State Governor, Chief Mrs Ebele Obiano for using her pet project, Caring Family Enhancement Initiative (CAFE) in uplifting the living standard of women in the state.


Rt. Hon. Maduagwu equally appealed to government at different levels to give women a chance to excel in politics by appointing to key positions of authority.
