OPINION: Obasanjo Meets Buhari In Ethiopia, All Smiles: Celebrate Not!

By Ikenna Asomba

So yesterday (Sunday, January 28, 2018), former President Olusegun Obasanjo got involved in a photo ops, all smiles, with President Muhammadu Buhari at the ongoing African Union summit taking place in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.

Both leaders met briefly just before the opening ceremony of the 30th Ordinary Session of the Assembly of Heads of State and Government of the African Union(AU).

I then ask, is this photo ops made in Addis Ababa, enough to elicit Halleluyah Chants from our brethren- the Buharideens and Buharists alike? Same Obasanjo they have all taken to the cleaners over the last one week? Some have even gone on National TVs to insult Obasanjo's forefathers?

Except they do not know who Obasanjo is. He does not lick his vomit. I have followed his political history dating back 1983.

He did same photo ops for former Senate President Chuba Okadigbo. He did same to former Peoples Democratic Party, PDP Chairman and the current Minister of Agriculture, Chief Audu Ogbe. Yet he facilitated their downfall.

Need I remind these Celebrants that after Obasanjo wrote a Stinker Open Letter entitled, "Before It's Too Late," to former President Goodluck Jonathan in December 2013, it never stopped him from attending the wedding of Jonathan’s foster daughter, Inebharapu, at the National Christian Centre, Abuja, on Saturday, January 10, 2015.

Obasanjo was all smiles at that wedding that many a political pundits and journalists concluded that Jonathan had reconciled with Obasanjo, ahead of the 2015 Presidential Election. The rest is HISTORY now!

I can assure our brethren- the Buharideens and Buharists alike that Obasanjo is never going back on Buhari. He, line by line, meant the issues raised in that 20-page Special Letter to Buhari.

Let me tell our brethren one Exhumed Secret- Obasanjo is a good follower of Robert Greene's Third Law of Power which says, "Conceal Your Intentions."

In his Best Seller Book, "48 Laws Of Power," Robert Greene wrote: Conceal Your Intentions. Keep people off-balance and in the dark by never revealing the purpose behind your actions. If they have no clue what you are up to, they cannot prepare a defense. Guide them far enough down the wrong path, envelope them in enough smoke, and by the time they realize your intentions, it will be too late."

Our people say, 'ochi awuro uto' (laughter doesn't signify happiness, joy, working relationship, partnership, approval).
