Anambra Central: Two years without a voice in the Senate - Okoye Francis speaks

TODAY MARKS EXACTLY 2 YEARS THAT NDI ANAMBRA CENTRAL SENATORIAL ZONE HAVE STAYED WITHOUT A VOICE IN THE SENATE:

It was this day, December 7th, 2015 that the Court of Appeal Enugu in her judgement sacked Senator Uche Ekwunife from the Senate, citing that the PDP which fielded her as candidate did not conduct proper primary and as such she was not duly nominated and elected. The court went further to state that the PDP would not participate in the rerun.

Since then a lot of water has passed through the ocean. Many people have been filling both relevant and irrelevant cases in one court or another, trying to torpedo INEC in order to delay the conduct of the rerun. A few others have been scheming that instead of Victor Umeh to clinch that Senatorial Seat, let it remain vacant sine die.

Following a ruling by the court last month, INEC for the first time fixed January 13th, 2018 as the date for the Rerun and since then, the center has refused to hold...some are demanding that all the cases in court must be exhausted before any rerun is conducted. Why should only  Anambra Central be different, why should we always be called "Nkemdiche" ?

Recall that similar situation happened in Kogi East and West Senatorial zones and it was swiftly and smoothly resolved and they had their elections conducted long ago. Why should "nke anyi" linger till this moment.

Just yesterday the Senate Committee on Ethics and Public Petition received a petition written by one Anayo Nweke(from nowhere), urging the committee to compel INEC not to conduct the January 13th senatorial rerun. This is a typical example of what I am saying that few Elites from our zone have sworn that Ndi Anambra Central must remain without a Representative for just no good reasons, simply because they don't like Victor Umeh 's face. This is brazen wickedness and sheer selfishness, and I beg to differ.

As a patriot and youth activist, who knows what we the youths have lost to this madness, I hereby urge all men and women of goodwill to join in the call for the sacrosanctity of the January 13th Date.

If we miss it this time around, we may not get it again till 2019. It is not all about Victor Umeh,  it is not all about the selfish elites,  it is all about we the Youths of Anambra Central Senatorial Zone.

We have indeed lost a lot of job opportunities ,  projects,  investments, millions of naira and  constituency representations in the last 2 years. We can not continue like this any longer!

A stitch in time saves nine.

Onye nwelu nti ya nu lu.
