Wilmot fled Liberia as a 31 years old man in the wake of the civil war, now he's a Mayor in America

This Liberian man Wilmot Collins born in Lagos, Nigeria had fled Liberia as a 31 years old man in the wake of the civil war in the country, America later took him in as a refugee. Now he has been elected mayor by the people of Helena, Montana.

“I was born in Nigeria but I can’t aspire to be the governor of Lagos State where I reside because I know it is not possible.

“It is easier for me to migrate to America and be a mayor than winning  election to be the governor of Lagos State,” Collins said.

This story exemplifies why America is the greatest nation on earth, a country that celebrates diversity and you can be anything you want to be in that country regardless where you come from. It is not a mistake.
