Armed Robbers Storm Bank In Ondo, Kill Police Inspector, Two Sergeants

A Skye Bank branch in Ifon, the headquarters of Ose local government area of Ondo state was on Thursday, robbed by a gang of armed robbers, who carted away an undisclosed huge amount of money and shot dead three policemen.


The robbers were said to have stormed the bank premises around 3 pm, shooting sporadically to create a panic atmosphere.
The incident put a halt to social and commercial activities in the town for several minutes as residents living close to the bank ran helter-skelter to safety, while the robbery operation reportedly lasted for about 40 minutes


The robbers were said to have blown up the bullet-proof door of the bank with a substance suspected to be dynamite before gaining entrance.

According to an information shared on Nigerian Police Force interactive Facebook page by Yunus Adam, the names of the three policemen killed by the robbers are: Inspector Jimoh Adeniyi, Sergeant Alex Samson and Sergeant Dara oluwole.

Meanwhile, a nurse working with Adelabu Hospital was injured and rushed to Federal Medical Center, Owo.

The Police Public Relations Officer in the state, Mr. Femi Joseph, confirmed the incident and said the command deployed more officers and men in the scene while another team, led by the state Commissioner of Police, Mr. Gbenga Adeyanju, went to the area after receiving the information.
