As written by Dim Emeka Obasi and Mazi Otapiapia
Is Nnamdi Kanu Playing God? The answer is NO! I may not be the number one fan of the leader of Indigenous People's of Biafra, Mazi Nnamdi Kanu nor of the IPOB's hierarchies, but I must say that I am really not happy with the negative comments against him since this photo of a man prostrating before him surfaced online!
Some Bitter Elements even alleged that Nnamdi Kanu is forcing his followers to worship him and forcing them to join his Jewish Religion.
Nothing could be farther from the truth. Nnamdi Kanu is very much loved by a great multitude and commands what can be best be described as cult followership.
The respect and reverence he gets from his admirers should not be misconstrued to worship.
Moreover prostrating to greet elders and leaders is not strange amongst we Africans and just for the records, Nnamdi Kanu is also the Crown Prince of Afara Ukwu Kingdom in Umuahia Abia State as his Biological Father is a King so even if such respect as prostration is accorded him, I don't think it is too much.
Before you crucify Nnamdi Kanu, does it mean the Yoruba's and Hausa's have monopoly of Loyalty and Respect?
As a matter of fact it is well deserved! My sincere Prayer for Nnamdi Kanu is for him not to be carried away by some of these sycophancies nor be swayed with the rhythms of praise singers!
Let's check out these photos below:
Photo 1 shows Yoruba actor Odunlade Adekola prostrating for Afro-Juju Legend, Sir Shina Peters
Photo 2 shows Obasanjo prostrating for Ooni of Ife
Photo 3 shows an IPOB member prostrating for Nnamdi Kanu.
One may need to ask, what's really the difference?
So, why are some people trying to give photo 3 a different meaning? No one forced Odunlade Adekola, Olusegun Obasanjo and the IPOB member to do what they did, it's just an act of reverence or submission.
