The camp of Dr. Tony Nwoye, the APC candidate is moving to limit potential damages from rivals who lost out in the primaries of the party.
Dr. Nwoye, according to sources, has met with all those who lost out in the party primaries with the notable exception of Senator Andy Uba, his closest rival in the APC primaries.
The Nwoye camp is said to be still apprehensive of the intentions of Senator Uba despite the assurances from Uba that he would collapse his structure into Nwoye’s camp and that he would not leave the party.
It is the second time that Nwoye would defeat his former “boss” in the quest for a party ticket, the first being in 2013 when he emerged as the PDP candidate in that year’s governorship election at the expense of Uba.
Though Senator Uba had pledged to support the candidate, party chieftains are, however, fretful following reports of petitions to the party allegedly authored by Uba’s associates seeking to derail the emergence of Dr. Nwoye as the candidate.
