Under Mr. Peter Obi, the then President Goodluck Jonathan to declared Anambra an oil producing State. What Gov. Willie Obiano should have done was to follow it up. The Governor of Lagos whose own declaration came later followed it up and is now legally treated as one.
Even after the Lagos own case was concluded, our Governor has not followed Anambra's own. I was glad when Oseloka Obaze enlisted it as among the first things he will pursue. As a seasoned diplomat, accomplishing such tasks he has laid upon himself will not be difficult.
Everyday, these same people shout about oil and gas. Beyond the Stanel filling station, tell me Anambra's achievement in that sector, yet when people speak, including the clergy, they thank Obiano for achievements in that sector.
Under Obi, the state conducted a study and discovered that the shortest distance to Oil field over the River is from Umueje, and therefore awarded the contarct for the the bridge in the town. As soon as Obiano became Governor, he abandoned the bridge and started two bridges from Aguleri. Added the Umueje own, the bridges are now three.
Now, you ask yourself, why would three bridges be under construction leading to communities that have about 1000 population? Even in Lagos, we have three bidges, built in stages, to the Island that houses millions of people.
I decided to pen this down to show you the poverty of project conception by the present Governemnt that we have, willing to watse money once it concerns his town, Agulueri.
Each time they advertise those bridges, I shudder at the ignorance of some folks. To make their vanity clear, they always announce that it is the logest bridge, even when Odor is far longer than that.
