Man Narrates His Sad Experience With Port'Hacourt SARS [Must Read]

A man who simply gave his name as John has narrated his ugly experience with one of the Nigeria Police Special Armed Robbery Squad, SARS.

 Read below

"I was with my wife on a weekend retreat at Golden Tulip hotel some weeks ago. I excused myself to go and watch the Mayweather cross over fight at Lamborghini night club.

"I became sleepy after 1. 30am and was driving back to the hotel. On getting towards Greg Ogbeifun street in GRA, I was flagged down by 4 men of the Special Armed Robbery Squad (SARS) as they introduced themselves. They were in plain clothes but wore vests with Police inscription.

"They asked me where I was coming from and as I was trying to explain myself, I was handcuffed firmly and asked to go and seat in the middle of the back seat of their Camry Car.

"They took my phones and switched them off and told me I looked like a kidnapper they were looking for, but I told them to check my identity card and also search the car as the supposed kidnapped woman was not there.

"All my plea fell on deaf ears and my reluctance to get completely into the Camry car earned me a very painful machete slap on my knee and when a gun was cocked by my side, followed with threat to kill me, I became really scared.

"They zoomed off with me while one of the Policemen drove his car and followed them, and they kept driving around the city, eventually after much pleading I was told that only N200,000.00 (Two hundred thousand Naira) will earn me my freedom.

"The search for an ATM began from Mummy B road to GRA Junction, then towards waterlines where they removed my handcuffs and after GTB failed to pay me, another bank ATM was only able to pay me N100,000.00 (One Hundred thousand Naira) which I took to them and informed them that my set limit cannot be exceeded until the next day.

"The money was taken grudgingly and they spun around and drove against traffic back to GRA Junction and released me.

"I was thoroughly shaken and traumatized."
