[OPINION] Anambra Guber: How Billions Of Naira Will Be Spent

By Obibuba Stanislaus

To contest any election in Nigeria, you must be ready to match the money bags "naira to naira and kobo to Kobo".  To contest gubernatorial election will gulp billions of Naira. Anambra gubernatorial election is few months away and below are the major contenders:

1. Wille Obiano- The incumbent governor of Anambra state, will definitely fund his campaign with tax payers funds of the state. Also bear in mind that his previous election was funded by the emeritus governor Peter Obi with tax payers funds of Anambra state. Kindly note that the gratuity of Willie can't fund such political outing.

2. Olisaemeka Obaze- OHO as he is fondly called is a former staff of U.N.(United Nations) , SSG Anambra state. This decent gentleman can't afford to fund his campaign, henec he has to depend on peter Obi. What is Peter Obi's interest? How will the billions wasted be recovered?  These are million dollar questions.

3. Tony Nwoye- A medical doctor, former NANS president and incumbent member house of Representatives. Personally Tony can't fund his campaign, hence he relied on Chief Arthur Eze; a billionaire oil magnate. How will Chief Arthur Eze recover the billions he spent on the said election? What is his interest? Another million dollar question.

4. Osita Chidoka- A former Road safety boss, a refined gentleman. His salaries all his life can't fund his political campaign and it is still a mystery and one of the wonders of the modern world how he came about his campaign funds. He will surely prevaricate this question if thrown to him.

Finally, here on social media, we embark on profanity laced diatribes aimed at delivering a giant political punch at the oppositions.

The foundation for Nigeria election is corruption. The system provides fertile ground for corruption to thrive. We must start to ask the contenders and their agents the right questions. Nobody is so benevolent to spend billions to fund campaign free.
