Gov. Rochas Okorocha is a big disgrace to ndi-Igbo, a monumental failure in leadership and one of the worse set of individuals who ordinarily shouldn't have come anywhere close to position of power, but here he is, a terrible failure.
In the last few hours, I have been seeing and reading many disturbing posts and videos, which to me seemed like an Owerri Runover, a dictatorial approach, a forceful and hateful style and yes, the shooting was more like a Sicily mafia ring or a drug cartel battle between ring leaders and powerfully armed men.
The shooting was endless, a convoy which had in its escort, litanies of armed soldiers and policemen of the Nigerian nation state were guarding the vehicle conveying who is to be Imo State Governor, Rochas Okorocha. They were shooting without end and it was a terrible sight to behold, a devastation in itself.
I later saw photos of a young boy lying dead on the street and sadly, his sister was seen bending over the lifeless body of her brother, I wept. Also, a few others were shot as well, with many suffering various degrees of injuries, and many others dead.
It's a bad day for ndi-Igbo. It's a bad day for Nigeria. It's a bad day for Africa and indeed a bad day for mankind. I wept for Owerri. I wept for my nation. I wept for fellow humans. This is a very terrible sight to behold.
It was alleged that the Government had chosen to pull down a section, if not in whole, a market located by Douglas road. The people tried to resist and even the State Governor personally inspected the team that had come to pull down the shops in the market, there was sporadic shooting and many died. Why must force be the only option?
It hurts me to hear that this same guys who claimed their willingness and swore an oat of office to save and watch over us, are actually the ones killing us. The first job of any serious-minded Government in any part of the world is the protection of the lives and properties of her citizens, the people. Nigerian reckless leaders don't care!
We all clamor for a Biafran nation state, but the war from inside within is a terrible disaster. Our own people kill us. Our own leaders are killing us. They supervise while many die. This is terrible and honestly, it's heartbreaking.
The APC as a political party should hide their faces in shame. They have terribly failed us as a people and as a nation. This is thesame people who have dealt terribly with Nigeria and Nigerians. They have failed in Nigerian leadership. The level of unpreparedness in governance by the desperate APC and all her people is mind shattering.
Today, they clamor to be voted in, to govern Anambra State, but with the mess we have seen with the APC-led Federal Government plus the "misleadership" of the shameless Rochas Okorocha in Imo State, it's even more reason why Anambrarians shouldn't and wouldn't vote for the APC.
The worse making of governance is the various standards of misleadership by the political class. Africa and indeed, Nigeria has a terrible class of leaders. Many are shameless, and care only about their self-enrichment. Mr. Okorocha is no exception.
Lately, Rochas Okorocha has being in the news for solely badnews. There is nothing good coming outside Rochas Okorocha's Owerri and Imo State. He has failed. He is a monumental failure. It's sad.
This same Owelle Anayo Rochas Okorocha who claimed to be pious, patriotic and a philanthropist was actually a green snake in a green grass. He even was known to break bounds and cross divides in doing good where he sponsored Muslim pilgrims to Mecca for prayers, ran a free school for indigent and poor, was a known donor in the Abuja Ecunumical center project and was also donating to charity and all. Many of us got carried away and thought that patriotism and leadership go hand in hand. We thought the man was true to himself, but then he had an ulterior motive.
I learnt Okorocha owns a private jet. That he is building a private university. He has a highly-rated hotel, and has built the classiest mansion in the entire of Igboland all to himself, yet Imo State University is in a pitiable condition, Imo State workforce are hungry and under-paid, Imo roads are traps of death. Imo people suffer high taxation, joblessness, hunger and malnutrition. The State is dirty and stinking. Armed robbery and kidnapping still takes place. What the heck has this man even achieved in the near completion of his two terms in leadership? What good has he done exactly? It's a big shame!
The evil that men do will live with them and even after them. The blood of innocent Nigerians that were shed by trigger-happy armed men of Nigerian security forces, they will pay back for a hundred-fold over. Karma always serves itself tastefully and at the right time.
When he even came to campaign in Owerri, proudly even from outside Imo, we supported him. Today, he has proven to be irresponsible, ignorant and a big shame to leadership.
Thank God he didn't make it to the Nigerian Presidency which he almost did, had he won the PDP primary ticket which was keenly contested during the Presidential primaries, and in which he was the first runner-up back then.
Characters like Rochas Okorocha shouldn't be allowed to have neared positions of power. And now, never again! It's a sad day. Until we get our acts together and vote in true leaders, these shameless characters will keep taking us all for granted and killing us.
I'm angry and as a people, we all mourn.
