My Findings On Ozubulu Massacre By Kenechukwu Jonathan

When I saw the post yesterday, the first thing I did was to pick up my phone to call my aunt (my dad's immediate younger sister) who got married in that village.

I was restless when her lines and that of her daughter was switched off, I had to call my younger brother, who lives in Enugu, and he called them with another line and confirmed to me that they were not at the Mass.

Earlier this morning I called my aunt and asked her about what I heard that happened in her village, and she told me that she cried and cried yesterday, seeing how the brain of little kids littered the floor of church. She told me that about 30 worshippers have been confirmed dead, mostly whom are the husband's relatives.

The first question she asked me was "Do you know Bishop?" And I answered no.

She maintained that I wouldn't know him cos I didn't live with her, but that my younger ones, who once lived with her in that village would know his family.

She told me that the perpetrators were after Bishop, and have been to his house 3 times but met his absence. So early yesterday, they went to the church he built, where he does worship whenever he's in town,  went straight to his reserved seat, but couldn't find him, they then shot the father, the step mother,  and opened fire on innocent worshippers, mainly children and women.

She told me that the so called Bishop, who based in South Africa built two Secondary schools in the town, built estates in Awka,  built the Church, where the ugly incidence took place, built two bank buildings, tarred road in the community. That he has build and still building houses for widows and poor people, paying sch fees for many, how he's financing projects in the church and the town in general.

And other things. I learnt from her that these killings have gone quite a long way, all the way from SA, down to Nigeria. She said that there was once a case settled in the Igwe's palace, when some people from Mbaise accused the Bishop of killing their own, and at the sitting, the Igwe asked those South African drugs barons, "If you know that you have not killed any body since you went into drug business you should indicate by standing up." But non did.

I learnt from her that it was the Bishop who called his friend, the State Governor and inform him of the ugly incidence. From my observation, opening fire on the innocent worshippers was just to send a message to the so called Bishop. And the perpetrators knew very well that other of his relatives would be at that Mass.

The govt should arrest the so called Bishop until he name his drug partners, who killed innocent worshippers in the church. Just look at the people building the house of God. The church authority really needs to wake up.

People should stop linking Fulani herdsmen or Northerners with this issue. I read some posts and comments where people are calling IPob and Nnamdi Kanu, while others are linking it to Anambra Election. May the souls of the departed rest in peace. Amen.
