Carabao Cup: Leicester City Manager Hails Persistent Musa’s Performance

Leicester City manager Craig Shakespeare has hailed Nigerian forward, Ahmed Musa’s persistence push at goal in the club's 4-1 victory over Championship side Sheffield United to progress to the Carabao Cup Third Round.

Shakespeare made eight changes to his team for the fixture and was delighted with Musa’s contribution in the win at Bramall Lane.

The Nigeria international, making his first start of the season, wrapped up the victory for his side, firing in a shot from close range in stoppage time of the encounter to the delight of Shakespeare and Leicester City fans.

“We spoke at half time about being more ruthless,” Shakespeare told LCFC TV.

“We had some chances in the first half where we weren’t ruthless enough. We’ve had Demarai Gray who is one of our best one-on-one players, taking people on. He was very calm and produced an excellent finish.

“Then Islam Slimani popped up with two goals and I was pleased for Ahmed Musa at the end because he kept going and kept plugging away. His persistence paid off.

“It was important that we went through, and we did.”
