#AnambraDecides: Group Kicks Against Zoning To The North

A group known as Anambra South Youth Vanguard has kicked against the zoning formula in the state. In a statement released on Tuesday, the group insisted it was unconstitutional.

As the race for who clinches the coveted Governorship seat comes to the front burner, it is pertinent we address issues concerning the said zoning formula being peddled in some quarters.

The youth make up about 60 percent of the electorates, our strength and voices should never be underestimated by anyone. For long, we have always poured out our minds to let Ndi Anambra know that "Anambra South" has been seriously marginalised. from the time democracy birthed for real, 1999 till date,  Anambra South have been opportune to be in the state helms of affairs for just 4 years.

It is now surprising to hear people prefer some other zones to a zone that have a plethora of distinguished men and women, with great leadership prospect and qualities. As the umbrella body of youths from the zone, we wish to let any political party that wish we take them serious, to consider our plight and help champion our cause.

We take into cognisance, that there is no where in the constitution that stipulates zoning, but to help create a perfect political hemisphere, issues of settlement and compensation is key.  Great Anambra South men and women have done a lot to the growth of not just their communities but the state at large.

Let this also sound as a warning to those championing that the Governorship should be zoned to the north, to desist from such move because, Anambra south youth Vanguard will ensure its total rejection in anyway we can.

We also hereby beseech political parties to jettison the idea of zoning power to only candidates from the North, the South has only had four years same as the north so the equation favors both the North and the South.

In all, we wish the good people of Anambra a peaceful oncoming Guber Election.
