I was watching a whole load of visuals from a recent Andy Ubah hangout with minors and his disgusting display with physically challenged Anambrarian and what came to my mind was abuse, abuse and abuse! I also hear another word in my gut and that is hunger, hunger and hunger! I have known Andy Ubah from the States when he used to do the rounds in the city with his Cab and usually grab lunch close to my office near the city Pub. I know him. He is still his old self always looking for an opportunity to grab, intimidate, lie, abuse and cheat. It is only in Nigeria that such character as Andy Ubah will smell a pubic office as an elected officer. Andy Ubah is not alone in this show of election-is-near-madness and shame.
El Rufai played the election-is-near-game by chewing sugarcane along Kaduna roads and even among almajiris. My very good friend Oshiohmole and Obaseki broke record on the number of corn they chewed along Benin roads during Obaseki campaign. Do I talk of Rotimi Amaechi that become a hairdresser in faraway Port Harcourt because of election. Almakura of Nasarawa was even more daring in his testing of kwalikwanta invested mattress in Internal Displaced Persons camps, (IDPs) because he wants second term in office. Rochas Okorocha during his second term bid turned to roadside corn and pear evening retailer. It is shameful, silly and irritating what these so called leaders do to confuse and physiologically intimidate and subjects the poor to harrowing experience and 'use and dump' them immediately after election.
The case of Andy Ubah is more pathetic. This is a two time Senator of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. He was a Presidential Aide-a powerful one at that for eight good years. He has been at the corridors of power for 14 plus years and in all these years, Andy is just remembering the poor in Aguata and Anambra State. I am from Uga and believe you me, the worst Federal road in the Southeast starts at Andy Ubah's backyard in Uga. Business along that road that linked Uga to Nnewi to Onitsha are all dead and their son has been in the corridors of power for 14+ years.
The schools buildings in Uga were an eyesore until APGA government changed their pitiable condition for a better conducive environment for learning. In all the years that Andy selfishly has been in power, not even one indigene of Uga his hometown has been empowered. No federal presence anywhere in Aguata and the whole of Anambra South. To my people, he is the worst thing ever to happen to us. I do not know why God chose to punish Aguata people with such human being as Andy Ubah. There is nothing to show that Aguata people have somebody like Andy Ubah in the corridors of power in the last fourteen and half years. It has always been him, him and him alone.
Today, Andy is caught on Camera getting a physically challenged person drunk on Guinness Stout because he wants to be seen as a commoner. He is now seen around minors drinking Maltina and eating 'mama put'. Shamelessly, he goes about buying cucumber, fried yam, dodo, banana, kpekere, pepper soup and agidi all in the name of the upcoming governorship election. I am waiting for Andy to join my grand children in playing hide and seek game all in the name of trying cosmetically to show he is down to earth and very close to the people. It is getting interesting the way and manner Andy Ubah is going about his new found humility all because of the November 18th election in Anambra State.
Before Andy Ubah kills us with his new 'cosmetic humility', we demand to know what he has been doing in Abuja in the last fourteen years that left the federal road in his backyard as a death trap and a business killer. He need to explain to us in the language we understand why he refuse to give federal jobs to new graduates from Anambra South. He need to explain to us why he never answers his phone call immediately after election. He need to open it up to us why he want to be governor of Anambra State when his fourteen years at Abuja is a waste to us his Aguata people.
Finally, I have advised my children not to allow Andy Ubah in their ludo and hide and seek games.
Godwin Okeke.
