Reports reveal that Police authorities at the Force headquarters, Abuja where kidnap kingpin, Chukwudumeme Onwuamadike, popularly known as Evans is currently detained, may have concluded investigations into his activities as he will soon be transferred back to Lagos where he is expected to be arraigned in court.
Police sources told Vanguard that his interrogation was very ‘extensive and intensive’ based on the determination of the authorities to prepare a strong case for prosecution in court.
It was gathered that he would be slammed with no less than a 40-count charge bordering on armed robbery, kidnapping, murder etc and all the veritable evidences that will nail him in court have been carefully prepared and documented.
However, two additional major accomplices were arrested in the course of their investigation. They include; one Emeka, who allegedly gave information that led to the bloody attack on transport mogul and owner of Young Shall Grow Motors, Chief Obianodo in 2013, and another man popularly called Baba Eko, who allegedly supplied information that led to the kidnap of Evans’ last victim, Chief Donatus Dunu, the owner of a multinational pharmaceutical company at Ilupeju, Lagos, early this year.
The miraculous escape of Chief Dunu led to the findings that eventually led to the arrest of Evans.
However, it was learnt that in order to establish a strong robbery case against him where lives were lost, operatives capitalized on the attack on the transport mogul, Young Shall Grow, where lives were lost in order to make a strong case against Evans.
According to a source from Force headquarters Abuja, investigators are not restricting investigations on just establishing his culpability in armed robbery and kidnapping alone, they are equally digging deeper with a view to ascertaining where he lodged the massive cash he was collecting from his victims, the financial institutions that aided him, all other major accomplice, and also critically looking into the role played by security agencies including the police, army etc; that enabled Evans operate freely for so long without being arrested.
