As written by Okey Igbokwe
During the Jonathan conference of 2014, a proposal was made for regionalism. Enugu and Ebonyi state delegates voted against it fearing that their states were not viable to survive in regional arrangement.
Today, David Umahi of Ebonyi state exclaimed that he's not in support of restructuring or call for Biafra agitation because his state is not viable financially to survive such arrangement as they still depend on federal allocation.
Feeding bottle federalism instituted by the Fulani oligarchy have so much washed up the reasoning capacity of these people to the point that self reliance scares them.
Before the criminal feeding bottle federalism, in the 50s and 60s, regional arrangement was what made the old Eastern region became the fastest growing economy in Africa and most industrialized too. Dr. Michael Okpara and Zik did not wait for external bodies to give them special aid to run the regional administration.
They developed the Eastern Development Commission as a master plan for far reaching development of the region. Some of the enduring infrastructures they developed in that era are what we still use today to run our various states. Till date, no other administration in Igbo land has matched the government of that golden era on strategies for development in Igbo land except the short lived term of Chief Sam Mbakwe and lately Mr Peter Obi.
David Umahi and his likes in Enugu state are certainly not the type of mindset and mentality we need in Igbo land for our freedom and advancement at this time. They should escape to the background with their primitive mentality while self reliant minded persons take the lead.
As it is now, an independent Igbo nation is what we need to move forward. Not David Umahi's close minded Nigeria feeding bottle federalism.
