Joseph Akpala scores as KV Oostende bag Europa after defeating KRC Genk

League Nigerian striker Joseph Akpala was on target as his Belgian topflight club KV Oostende beat KRC Genk 3-1 on Wednesday to qualify for next season's Europa League.

The game which was the Belgian Europa League qualification play-off final, saw Akpala give Oostende the lead on 27 minutes.

Oostende doubled their lead in the 32nd minute through David Rozehnal.

Genk pulled a goal back following Siebe Schrijvers goal from the penalty spot on the stroke of half time.

But in the 51st minute, Bafana Bafana of South Africa midfielder Andile Jali scored what was the winning goal to secure Oostende an Europa League ticket.

Akpala made 21 appearances in all competitions for Oostende this season, scoring four goals.
