His Excellency, Akpokuedike In Troubled Waters? By Chris McCool Nwosu

With today’s adjournment by the Appellate Court to December 14, 2017 of the appeal filed by the ousted National Chairman of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), Ozo Victor Ike Oye challenging the jurisdiction of the lower court to hear the matter brought before it by the late Ozo Okpochangene APGA leadership, the second term aspiration of His Excellency, Willie M. Obiano now hangs in the balance and is squarely placed under the prerogative of Ochudo Martin Agbaso, the now very legally recognized National Chairman of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) until the matter in the lower courts are eventually determined by the Apex court in the land.

This is even as ‘political ofekes’ na amaro mgbe ekelu nku ukwa are gallivanting about in the villages and local governments boasting how firm a grip the ousted Oye camp had on the once tranquil but now very troubled APGA. Who says Karma is not a bitch?

But then, let me shock many; the Ochudo that I know is a man who is not only imbued with a golden heart, but is without guile as well. Left to the Agbaso I know and have worked with on a number of non political projects, he may be lenient with Obiano if His Excellency humbles himself and do the needful.

That is, however, if the grave rascality displayed by of some of the highly inept individuals who masquerade around His Excellency in the capacity of aides and concerned party men / women at the very wake of the judgment of the Chief Judge of Enugu state compelling INEC and allied government agencies to recognize Agbaso as the legitimate National Chairman of APGA pending the determination of the substantive cases have not combined to rock that potentiality.

Some pundits are however of the strong opinion that should Ochudo hand APGA’s ticket for the November 18 governorship election to the incumbent who has ostensibly fallen out of favour with most political heavyweights in the state, then the new chairman must have kissed the party’s chances goodbye before the actual campaign commences.

Those who hold the opinion strongly opine that the only way APGA could effectively attempt to ward off the very threatening challenge of the APC lies in the replacement of Obiano with a very credible and capacity-filled candidate during its primary.

Even at that, they insist that APC will be a hard nut to crack if it also goes ahead to field a credible candidate; not some of the individuals with loads of baggage trailing their political history jostling for its ticket.

Methinks that, for the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), the days ahead will be both interesting and intriguing. There certainly will no longer be room for pointing at the speck in another’s eye when theirs is log filled.

Meanwhile, the intrigues just began!
