NNL: Ezeonwuka Proud Of Resurgent Nnewi United’s Three-Match Unbeaten Run

Nnewi United's resurgence in the second tier domestic football league, NNL, has earned them top praises from the chief executive officer of Rojenny Stadium Oba, Chief Rommy Ezeonwuka.

The Anaedo Lions were impressive in their 1-0 defeat of AS Racines of Lagos in a matchday 11 fixture last  weekend with Elum Sochima scoring just before the break. The hard fought victory extended the Anaedo Lions' unbeaten run to three games and moved up the standings to the 12th position.

"Nnewi United played so well in that match. They have improved tremendously, and I must commend them for that," a happy  proprietor of the Rojenny Games/Tourist Village Oba told Complete Sports Nigeria.

"This is their third game without defeat, it is a sign that the team is fast gelling and I believe sooner than later, they will recreate the electrifying atmosphere with which Udoji United and Jasper United held sway here.

"At that time, we used to have over 40,000 fans coming out to watch, and the NFA then will wonder the magic attracting such crowd."

Ezeonwuka, a former Youth Sports Federation of Nigeria, YSFON, Deputy National President, South East,  promised Nnewi United players undisclosed amount of money if they won the game. And just as he was getting into the stadium, Sochima struck the goal that later became the solitary match winner.

Ezeonwuka added: "Sometimes there is something between the spirits and the human.

"This team have not really arrived, but they are rising in performance, and it has been my desire to see them attain the glorious heights others before them attained right here.

"Yes, there could be a connection, maybe that was reason it (the goal) came at the time it did."
