Moses Shines As Chelsea Close In On EPL Title, Middlesbrough Relegated

Chelsea are just one win away from clinching this season's Premier League title after thrashing Middlesbrough 3-0 at Stamford Bridge on Monday.

Super Eagles forward Victor Moses was in action for Chelsea for his 33rd league appearance. He has scored three goals.

He gave a good account of himself as he went close to scoring on a few occasions and also went close to setting up a handful of scoring chances for his teammates.

Goals from Diego Costa, Marcos Alonso and Nemanja Matic secured the convincing win for Chelsea who have now claimed their 300th EPL home win.

The defeat means Middlesbrough are now relegated to the Championship after gaining promotion last season, joining Sunderland in the English second-tier.

Chelsea now need to beat West Brom on Friday at the Hawthorns to be crowned EPL champions for the second time in three seasons.

Chelsea had the first big chance of the game in the second minute through Marcos Alonso but his left-foot volley hit Brad Guzan and came off the cross bar.

Alonso went close again in the seventh minute after sending in a dangerous cross inside Middlesbrough's box which evaded everybody.

Chelsea went close again this time through Cesc Fabregas off Eden Hazard's pass only to see his low shot go narrowly wide.

Chelsea eventually took the lead on 23 minutes thanks to Costa who controlled Fabregas' clever pass before slotting the ball through Guzan's legs.

In the 34th minute Chelsea doubled their lead following Alonso's goal from a tight angle which hit Guzan before ending up inside the net.

Moses had a chance to extend Chelsea's lead in the 37th minute following a superb through pass from Fabregas only to see his shot hit the legs of Guzan.

Chelsea continued to search for more goals in the early part of the second half but Guzan denied Gary Cahill who struck from 30-yard.

In the 65th minute, Chelsea went 3-0 up through Matic who brought down Fabregas' pass and finished off with his right – foot.

Moses almost got on the score sheet for Chelsea in the 79th minute but his fierce goal bound strike was well saved by Guzan.

Chelsea are now seven points ahead of second placed Tottenham and a win at West Brom on Friday will seal their second title in three seasons.
