The International Air Transport Association (IATA) yesterday presented the Operational Safety Audit certificate Air Peace, saying African airlines have started measuring up to the safety standard that could be found in Europe, America and other parts of the world.
IATA, the clearing house for world airlines, is particularly pleased that African airlines performed better than other continents of the world in 2016 in terms of safety, saying last year safety record in Africa was perfect as there was no single accident recorded.
IATA Regional Manager, South West Africa, Dr. Samson Fatokun who presented the certificate to the Chairman of Air Peace, Barr. Allen Onyema at a ceremony yesterday said the airline had gone through rigorous exercise of passing the IATA audit which recognizes the airline as being at par with the big airlines of Europe and America.
Chairman of Air Peace said safety remains his number one priority, adding, "I run Air Peace like a passenger with phobia for flight. That passenger wants to be in an aircraft that is so strong".
