Why Lawmakers should participate in constituency projects – Saraki

The Senate President, Dr. Bukola Saraki, has said that lawmakers should be involved in constituency projects.

He stated that such would enable legislators to impact positively on their constituents.

Noting that lawmakers were close the people, he said they would initiate and implement masses-oriented projects, adding that criticisms against lawmakers’ involvement in constituency projects were misplaced.

He spoke to journalists in Ilorin, the Kwara State capital, on Sunday, during his inspection of his constituency projects after being turbaned as the Baba Adini of Ansarul Islam Society of Nigeria.

Some of the ongoing constituency projects which he inspected included erosion-control projects at Oja-Gboro, Ubandawaki/Ajikobi, Abata Baba-Oyo and digital capacity building centre at Ansarul Islam Secondary School, Ilorin.

The Senate President said it was clear that the projects were real, contrary to the impression that constituency projects were avenues to squander or embezzle public funds.
