Final Year Fedponek student, three others die in Imo fatal crash

Tragedy struck on Friday on the ever-busy Owerri-Okigwe Expressway in Imo State when a Hilux truck collided with a tricycle, popularly known as Keke, killing four passengers on board, including a final year student of Federal Polytechnic, Nekede, Bright Ononiwu.

It was gathered that the white Hilux vehicle rammed into the yellow tricycle, instantly killing three out of the four passengers.

According to eyewitnesses, while three persons died on the spot, the fourth passenger, Ngozi Emeahu, from Umuhu-Ukwu, Atta, died hours later in the hospital.

The victims were said to be from Umudim in the Ikeduru Local Government Area of the state and were on their way to Owerri, the state capital, for different purposes when the auto crash occurred at Ama-Alim Junction.

A source in Umudim told our correspondent that the news of the deaths had thrown the entire community into deep mourning as some people reported that they had seen the victims shortly before the tragedy struck.

The source also disclosed that the family of Ononiwu was devastated by the death of their son who had less than few months to graduate from the polytechnic.
