90% corps members posted to North applied for redeployment — NYSC DG

The Director-General of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) Brigadier-General Suleiman Kazure, has assured corps members posted to northern parts of the country of their safety and so advised them to stop seeking redeployment to other parts of the country for their one -year mandatory national service, Nigeria 

The Director-General, who stated this on Tuesday while addressing 2016 Batch B  corps members posted to Niger State, at the orientation camp in Paiko Local Government Area of the state,  disclosed that 90 per cent of corps members posted to the north had applied for redeployment, saying that “the north is no longer volatile.”

The NYSC boss,  represented by the Director of Information and Communication Technology (ICT), Mrs. Christy Ifeyinwa Uba, said the successes recorded by the military, especially in the North-East geopolitical zone of the country, had brought normalcy to the entire north, urging them to stop seeking redeployment.

According to Kauzure, corps members could now be mobilised to every part of the north, appealing to the corps members not to dwell on the negative things they had heard about the north in the past concerning insecurity.

“I want to assure you that the north is now peaceful and the people are friendly. Keep an open mind and give it a chance and a trial. Your posting is not by mistake, stay here and make some impact on the people of the state.”

The DG, however, warned corps members to desist from channelling their complaints and grievances through the social media.

“This is a disciplined organisation, if you have issues or complaints, meet either your local government or zonal coordinator and even your state coordinator in the event of any problems or challenges rather than taking to the social media to address your issues,” he said.
