Mrs Okoli |
It is an inter-community road that links Ekwulobia with Ezinifite and Ekwulumili communities, which her late husband was rehabilitating for the communities before he died.
Since the death of Chief Okoli, the people resigned to their fate until his widow decided to continue what her husband was doing for his people.
Mrs. Okoli commenced work on the road as soon as the current dry season set in, and having completed the palliative work, motorists and other road users now enjoy smooth drive and movement in the area.
It was gathered that some of the people who would not have returned for the Christmas, have decided to come back since their major road has been made motorable.
Mrs. Okoli said: “The palliative work I did on that road is something that was initiated by my late husband. It’s a known fact here in Ekwulobia that when my husband was alive, he was doing palliative work on the road. The last rainy season made the road impassable and as Christmas is fast approaching, I decided to do what my husband was doing on that road when he was alive.
“The death of my husband, Chief Obi Okoli, the former MD/CEO of Ekwulobia Urban Mass Transit left the family and the people of Ekulobia devastated. His death was a heavy blow to me, my children, his extended family members and loved ones. I am only taking solace in the belief that with the worthy lifestyle he lived on earth, he is resting in heaven in the bosom of the Lord.
“His demise left a serious vacuum in my life, but God has filled that vacuum for me and my children. Honestly, the responsibilities he left behind for me and my children to shoulder are very heavy, but with God on our side, we are doing our best. That is why we have decided to continue some of the good things he was doing for his community when he was alive.” she added.
