Jegede’s Supporters In Ondo Jubilate Over Appeal Court Ruling

Some residents of Ondo State took to the streets on Friday to celebrate the Appeal Court ruling that granted Eyitayo Jegede (SAN) the leave to appeal the High Court ruling that ordered the candidacy of Mr. Jimoh Ibrahim as the candidate of the forthcoming Peoples Democratic Party in the November 26, 2016 election in the state.

Jegede is the candidate of the Ahmed Makarfi-led faction while Ibrahim is the candidate of the Ali Modu Sheriff faction.

A statement by the state government on Friday said the areas where residents celebrated the court ruling included Ondo, Igbokoda, Okitipupa, Owo, Akure and Ikare.

Governor Olusegun Mimiko was in Ikare, where he had gone to inaugurate a 4.7km road project when the Appeal Court sitting in Abuja gave the ruling.

Addressing the mammoth crowd, the governor was said to have commended the people for their loyalty and thanked God for the outcome of the ruling so far, where he charged the people to continue with their house-to -house campaign to win more people to support Jegede’s ambition.

Mimiko, who enjoined those who had yet to collect their permanent voter card to go and collect them during the weekend, noted that the fight would be won with votes.
